Since 2017, Kevin Costner produced and starred in Yellowstone, a TV series that tells the story of conflicts between ranching families in Yellowstone National Park.<\/p>\n

The 69-year-old cowpoke, who in the show plays the patriarch of the Dutton family, spent a lot of his time riding on horseback under the blazing sun in the fictional Broken Rock Indian Reservation.<\/p>\n

But in June 2024, the newly divorced actor announced he was departing the ranch to be an Arizona homesteader in 2024\u2019s Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1, a box office bomb that he stars and produces.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter this long year and a half of working on Horizon and doing all the things that that\u2019s required and thinking about Yellowstone\u2026I just realized that I\u2019m not going to be able to continue,\u201d the Wyatt Earp star explains to his fans on social media.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was something that really changed me. I loved it and I know you loved it. And I just wanted to let you know that I won\u2019t be returning.\u201d<\/p>\n

Weighing in on his announcement, fans expressed their disappointment in the comments section of his social media, some wishing him well and others saying he looks \u201cworn out.\u201d<\/p>\n

One writes, \u201cJohn Dutton was the GOAT; an absolute legend. It won\u2019t be the same without you.\u201d And a second pens, \u201cI am so heartbroken over this.\u201d<\/p>\n

A third, noting that he looks burned out, shares \u201cThe show definitely won\u2019t be the same without you\u2026 Still so handsome but you look [worn] out and older.\u201d<\/p>\n

That fan isn\u2019t the only one who\u2019s noticed that the star of Dancing with Wolves is looking a bit weathered.<\/p>\n

\u2018A toad has better skin\u2019
\nAn insider warns that the star could be in for a health crisis if he isn\u2019t more careful when it comes to filming under the sun.<\/p>\n

The source tells a news outlet that Costner\u2019s \u201cface is spotty from all the suntanning and probably sunburning he\u2019s been through.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd his forehead has many fine lines that tell a similar story plus more unsightly creases around the eyes.\u201d The insider continues, \u201cHis neck is the worst. A toad has better skin than Kevin. But he seems oblivious to the harm all those UV rays can do, and that could come back to bite him.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nThe source advises the actor and filmmaker \u201cto lather on the sunscreen and cover up properly,\u201d and warns that \u201che\u2019ll be sorry. Skin cancer is a serious subject.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nAgreeing with that sentiment, Dr. Gabe Mirkin \u2013 who does not treat Costner \u2013 said the Field of Dreams star is already showing \u201cdamage\u201d.<\/p>\n

Mirkin urges Costner \u201cto see a dermatologist yearly and have each successive basal cell removed before it becomes more extensive.\u201d<\/p>\n

Basal cell carcinoma is the \u201cmost common type of cancer, \u201cAccording to the American Academy of Dermatology Association (AAD). The organization says that people with \u201ca lighter skin tone\u201d who seldom protect the \u201cskin from the sun\u201d or use tanning beds, are at \u201ca greater risk of developing\u201d skin cancers.<\/p>\n

The AAD writes, \u201cBefore basal cell carcinoma develops, people with lighter skin tones often notice signs of sun damage on their skin, such as age spots, patches of discolored skin, and deep wrinkles. These signs can develop years before cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Explaining that the \u201cmajority of skin cancers are basal cells that usually do not spread to other parts of the body,\u201d Mirkin says it is often not life-threatening.<\/p>\n

But the doctor adds, \u201cOnce a person starts developing skin cancers, they usually have to go back to the dermatologist for the rest of their life because they keep on getting new ones.\u201d<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re wondering how Costner\u2019s character on Yellowstone makes his exit, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Costner has a \u201cmoral death\u201d cause in his contract, which means \u201cthe actor has a say about how John Dutton can or can\u2019t be killed on the show.\u201d<\/p>\n

At least we know that the likelihood of him dying of cancer in real life is low.<\/p>\n
