Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in a statement on X that his nation \u201creserves all options\u201d in responding to the attack.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe events this morning are outrageous and will have everlasting consequences,\u201d Araghch said. \u201cEach and every member of the UN must be alarmed over this extremely dangerous, lawless and criminal behavior. In accordance with the UN Charter and its provisions allowing a legitimate response in self-defense, Iran reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interest, and people.\u201d<\/p>\n
Araghchi said that the attacks on \u201cIran\u2019s peaceful nuclear installations,\u201d by the U.S. were \u201ca grave violation of the UN Charter, international law and the NPT.\u201d<\/p>\n
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said \u201cTrump\u2019s bold decision will change history.\u201d Speaking minutes after the attack, Netanyahu said, \u201cPresident Trump and I often say: \u2018Peace through strength.\u2019 First comes strength, then comes peace. And tonight, Donald Trump and the United States acted with a lot of strength.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, China strongly condemned the U.S. attack on Iran and on nuclear facilities supervised by the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Chinese foreign ministry said on Sunday.<\/p>\n
The move seriously violates the United Nations Charter and worsens tensions in the Middle East, the ministry said in a statement on its website.<\/p>\n
China urged parties to the conflict, especially Israel, to cease attacks as soon as possible and begin dialogue and negotiations, the ministry said.<\/p>\n
Elsewhere, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned that the U.S. strikes on Iran represent a dangerous escalation in an already volatile region, posing a serious threat to global peace and security.<\/p>\n

Within the Middle East, the ministry of foreign affairs of Saudi Arabia \u2014 a regional ally of the U.S., which only revived relations with Iran in March 2023 after a seven-year diplomatic rift \u2014 said it is following developments in \u201csisterly\u201d Iran with \u201cgreat concern.\u201d<\/p>\n
Yemen\u2019s Houthi militant group, historically backed by Tehran, denounced the U.S.\u2032 \u201cblatant aggression\u201d against Iran in a Google-translated statement carried by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba).<\/p>\n
The presidency of Lebanon, whose influential Hezbollah group also receive Iranian support and have been trading fire with Israel, said in a Google-translated statement that \u201cthe bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities raises fears of an escalation of tensions that could threaten security and stability in more than one region and country\u201d and urged restraint.<\/p>\n
In Europe, U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the situation in the Middle East \u201cremains volatile and stability in the region is a priority,\u201d calling on Tehran to resume negotiations and reach a diplomatic solution. The U.K., France and Germany have been attempting to de-escalate tensions through rapprochement with Tehran in recent days.<\/p>\n
In apparent response, Iran\u2019s Araghchi later said, \u201cto Britain and the EU High Rep, it is Iran which must \u201creturn\u201d to the table. But how can Iran return to something it never left, let alone blew up?\u201d<\/p>\n
Dmitry Medvedev, a senior security official and former president of Russia, on Sunday questioned Trump\u2019s odds of clinching a Nobel Peace Prize despite his recent nomination, saying the White House leader \u201cwho came as a peacemaker president, started a new war for the United States\u201d in a Google-translated Telegram post.<\/p>\n
Japan\u2019s Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba on Sunday told reporters it is \u201cparamount to calm the situation down soon,\u201d according to Japanese news outlet Jiji. \u201cIran\u2019s nuclear development must be blocked,\u201d he added, while falling short of endorsing the U.S. action and noting his government will fully discuss the development.<\/p>\n
Venezuela\u2019s Minister of Foreign Affairs Yvan Gil condemned the attacks in a message on Telegram: \u201cVenezuela Condemns U.S. Military Aggression Against Iran and Demands an Immediate Cessation of Hostilities. In keeping with our constitutional principles of foreign policy and our country\u2019s pacifist conviction, we reiterate our call to de-escalate tensions in the region. A spokesperson for the Australian government also called for de-escalation, Reuters reported: \u201cWe have been clear that Iran\u2019s nuclear and ballistic missile program has been a threat to international peace and security. Reactions across the globe are slowly coming in as leaders weigh the impact of the attack.<\/p>\n
South Korea\u2019s National Security Council convened on Sunday, with advisor Wi Sung-lac urging \u201crelevant ministries to minimize the impact of the recent series of developments in the Middle,\u201d according to the comments of a presidential spokesperson carried by South Korea news agency Yonhap.<\/p>\n
Pope Leo said the international community must strive to avoid war that risks opening an \u201cirreparable abyss,\u201d and that diplomacy should take the place of conflict.<\/p>\n
