Iran\u2019s ambassador told an emergency United Nations meeting that they have \u2018one word only\u2019 for the United States.<\/p>\n

This came after a deadly series of attacks on the Middle Eastern country over the weekend.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0US<\/a>\u00a0and Israel launched strikes against Iran in the early hours of Saturday (28 February) morning, killing its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. And as\u00a0Iran takes action\u00a0back,\u00a0Donald Trump\u00a0has suggested the conflict could\u00a0escalate further.<\/p>\n

America had planned for it to last for roughly\u00a0four or five weeks, with plans to destroy the country\u2019s missile capabilities, its navy and any hope of it obtaining nuclear weapons.<\/p>\n

And at the UN meeting in New York City on Saturday, Iranian representative Amir Saeid Iravani gave a warning to the US.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have one word only,\u201d the ambassador said. \u201cI advise to the representative of the United States to be polite.\u201d<\/p>\n

Iravani added: \u201cIt will be better for yourself and the country you represented, thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n

And the US ambassador, Mike Waltz, replied: \u201cFrankly, I\u2019m not going to dignify this with another response.\u201d<\/p>\n

He went on to add: \u201cEspecially, as this representative sits here, in this body, representing a regime that has killed tens of thousands of its own people and imprisoned many more simply for wanting freedom from your tyranny.\u201d<\/p>\n

The UN meeting saw Iravani describing the attacks on Iran as against international law and international legal order under the United Nations Charter.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cThis morning, the United States regime \u2013 jointly and in coordination with the Israeli regime \u2013 initiated an unprovoked and premeditated aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran for the second time in recent months.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not only an act of aggression; it is a war crime and a crime against humanity.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe invocation to \u2018pre-emptive attack\u2019, claims of imminent threat, or other unsubstantiated political claims, are unfounded legally, morally and politically.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
