<\/div>\n
\u201cI\u2019d rather be raped by a dozen whores than let liquor touch my lips!\u201d
\nPaddy handed his drink back and said,
\n\u201cMe too, I didn\u2019t know we had a choice!\u201d<\/p>\n
One crisp morning in Dublin, Paddy O\u2019Reilly was at the airport, about to board his flight to New York. Now, Paddy wasn\u2019t exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, but he had a heart of gold and a knack for getting into strange situations.<\/p>\n
As he stood at the gate, a flight attendant approached him. \u201cSir, could I check your boarding pass, please?\u201d she asked with a warm smile.
\nPaddy, slightly confused, patted his pockets. He couldn\u2019t find his boarding pass. He looked more frantic, pulling out a sandwich, a pair of sunglasses, and a rubber chicken he had gotten from a shop on the way. But no boarding pass.<\/p>\n
\u201cDon\u2019t panic, don\u2019t panic,\u201d Paddy muttered to himself, then suddenly grinned. \u201cAh, I\u2019ve got it!\u201d He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out\u2026 his lunch ticket. \u201cHere you go!\u201d he declared triumphantly, handing the flight attendant a ticket for a chicken wrap.<\/p>\n
The flight attendant blinked twice, unsure whether to laugh or cry. \u201cSir, this is for your lunch, not for your flight.\u201d
\nPaddy\u2019s face went red. \u201cAh! Silly me,\u201d he laughed, snatching the lunch ticket back. \u201cI always get those mixed up. No harm done, eh?\u201d<\/p>\n
The attendant, barely holding in her laughter, kindly handed him his actual boarding pass. As Paddy was about to board the plane, he suddenly remembered something. He hurried back to the desk and asked, \u201cExcuse me, miss, do I get any peanuts on this flight?\u201d
\n\u201cOf course, sir,\u201d she replied. \u201cBut you should probably be seated first, before the peanuts arrive.\u201d<\/p>\n
Paddy nodded and marched toward the gate, but before stepping onto the plane, he turned around and asked, \u201cWhat\u2019s the deal with the peanuts, anyway? Are they special? Are they magic peanuts?\u201d
\nThe flight attendant raised an eyebrow, a little puzzled by his question. \u201cUh, no, they\u2019re just regular peanuts.\u201d
\nPaddy smiled mischievously. \u201cRight, right. I knew it! I heard from a fella in the pub once, \u2018If you eat peanuts while flying, you\u2019ll get a free upgrade.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
The attendant stared at him, unsure whether he was joking or seriously misunderstanding the entire concept of airline snacks.
\nPaddy boarded the plane, but true to his nature, things didn\u2019t get any clearer. Onboard, he asked the flight attendant, \u201cIs this seat 14B or 14C? Or is it 15A? My seat number has all the letters and numbers mixed up like a jigsaw puzzle!\u201d<\/p>\n
With a sigh and a smile, the attendant gently led him to his seat. \u201cSir, it\u2019s 14B.\u201d
\nAs Paddy settled in, he put his seatbelt on, but then fiddled with it for a good ten minutes. He asked the woman next to him, \u201cHow do you get this thing to work? I tried twisting it like a pretzel, but it\u2019s not budging.\u201d<\/p>\n
The woman sighed, \u201cIt\u2019s a buckle, Paddy. Just click it.\u201d
\nPaddy clicked it, and then, satisfied, looked out the window. He was finally ready to relax. That is, until the captain\u2019s voice boomed over the intercom.
\n\u201cLadies and gentlemen, we\u2019re cruising at 35,000 feet. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the flight.\u201d<\/p>\n
Paddy, a bit too eager to get the most out of the flight, leaned over to his neighbor and whispered, \u201cDo you think 35,000 feet means we\u2019re halfway to the moon?\u201d
\nHis neighbor, shaking her head with a smile, whispered back, \u201cNo, Paddy. We\u2019re still firmly on Earth.\u201d
\nPaddy grinned, \u201cAh well, close enough!\u201d<\/p>\n
When the peanuts finally arrived, Paddy grabbed handfuls, shoving them into his mouth like he was starving. As he munched away, he thought about the mysterious powers of the \u201cmagic peanuts\u201d he had been promised.
\nMinutes later, the flight attendant came by, smiling sweetly. \u201cWould you like a drink with those peanuts, sir?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAh, no thanks,\u201d Paddy replied, crumbs falling from his mouth. \u201cI\u2019m already drunk on peanuts!\u201d
\nAnd so, Paddy\u2019s plane misunderstanding continued as he happily ate his peanuts, blissfully unaware of the true meaning of \u201cin-flight entertainment.\u201d
\nPaddy handed his drink back and said,
