Grammy-Nominated Singer Announces Her Battle With Breast Cancer

While performing on stage since the age of 11, Jessie J eventually found her way into the music industry with songs like “Do It Like a Dude” and “Price Tag.” Since that moment, she spent decades expanding her discography with albums like Alive, Sweet Talker, and The Christmas Day. She even appeared as a coach on The Voice UK and The Voice Australia. But sadly, her recent social media post had little to do with her career and more about her personal life. Sharing for the first time, Jessie J revealed she was battling breast cancer.

On Tuesday, Jessie J shared a heartfelt message on her Instagram Stories, discussing her breast cancer and her decision to “disappear for a bit.” She said, “I was diagnosed with early breast cancer. I’m highlighting the word early. Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding onto the word early. I have been in and out of tests throughout this whole period.” The singer added, “I just wanted to be open and share it. One, because, selfishly, I do not talk about it enough. I’m not processing it because I’m working so hard. I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people, giving me their love and support and also their own stories.”

Trying to use her cancer battle as a way to help others, Jessie J received a galaxy full of love and support from fans, celebrities, and fellow artists. And showing the type of fighter she was, the singer joked about her releasing her newest single, “No Secrets.” “To get diagnosed with this, as I’m putting out a song called ‘No Secrets’ right before a song called ‘Living My Best Life,’ which was all pre-planned before I found out about this. I mean, you can’t make it up.”

Jessie J remained positive about the diagnosis and explained that she would be disappearing for a bit to focus on the cancer. Joking about needing to go under the knife, she hit back, “It’s a very dramatic way to get a boob job.”
