Michelle Obama Reveals Why She’s Glad She Never Had a Son
Michelle Obama recently opened up about a personal topic—why she’s “so glad” she and Barack never had a son. Her comments came during a candid conversation on her podcast, offering new insight into the former First Family’s private life.
Life After the White House
Since leaving the White House in 2017, the Obamas have allowed the public a closer look into their lives. Michelle, in particular, has appeared on several podcasts. She often discusses family life, her White House experience, and her marriage to the former president.
Meanwhile, daughters Malia (26) and Sasha (24) have stepped into adulthood and launched their own careers far from the political spotlight.
“He Would Have Been Barack”
During an episode of The Michelle Obama Podcast, which she co-hosts with her brother Craig Robinson, Michelle responded to radio personality Angie Martinez, who joked that the Obamas should’ve “thrown a boy in the mix.”
Michelle replied without hesitation:
“I’m so glad I didn’t have a boy, because he would have been a Barack Obama.”
Martinez laughed and said, “Baby Barack! It would have been amazing,” to which Michelle responded:
“No, I woulda felt for him.”
Craig chimed in, joking that Michelle had simply “borrowed” his sons, Austin and Aaron, instead.
Addressing Divorce Rumors
In recent months, speculation about a potential Obama divorce has circulated online. Michelle shut down the rumors firmly—both on podcasts and social media.
On Father’s Day (June 15), she shared a throwback photo of Barack with their daughters on Instagram. In the caption, she praised him for always being there for the family, even when the presidency brought immense pressure.
“@BarackObama has always been there for us—no matter what. Even when it felt like the weight of the world was on his shoulders. We’ve always been so grateful.”
She ended the post with a heartfelt tribute:
“To Barack and all the dads and father-figures celebrating today, Happy Father’s Day!”
“I’m Not a Martyr”
Michelle also addressed the divorce talk directly during an episode of The Diary of a CEO podcast. Speaking with Steven Bartlett, she made her stance clear:
“If I were having problems with my husband, everybody would know about it. I would be problem-solving in public. I’m not a martyr.”
The Obamas Still Captivate
Though they’ve been out of the White House for years, public fascination with the Obamas remains strong. Whether it’s Michelle’s honesty, Barack’s legacy, or their daughters stepping into the world—people are still watching, listening, and learning.
