The Trump administration advises all World Cup fans to carry a specific item at all times

FIFA Club World Cup Kicks Off Amid Tight Security Measures
Soccer fans headed to the U.S. for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup have been issued a serious warning—carry legal ID at all times or risk facing consequences.

A Global Tournament on American Soil
The reimagined FIFA Club World Cup starts June 14 at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium. For 29 days, 32 teams—including reigning champions Manchester City—will battle in 63 matches across the country.

Opening the tournament is Inter Miami CF, owned by David Beckham, who will face Egypt’s Al Ahly. The tournament also features stars like Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, and Sergio Busquets, all eyeing the $131.5 million prize.

The Final Showdown
The championship match is set for July 13 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Top clubs including Paris Saint-Germain, Atlético Madrid, Benfica, Porto, and Boca Juniors will also contend for glory.

Immigration Crackdown Shadows Tournament
However, the spotlight has shifted to rising concerns over security and immigration enforcement. Protests erupted in Los Angeles after ICE agents carried out operations targeting undocumented immigrants with criminal records. In response, President Donald Trump deployed the National Guard and U.S. Marines to calm unrest.

Strict Rules for Foreign Fans
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced their presence at the games via social media:

“Let the games begin! CBP will be suited and booted and ready to provide security.”

ICE agents will also be present. According to NBC Miami, they emphasized that non-U.S. citizens must carry proof of legal status at all times while attending matches.

“Let the fans come. We want them to celebrate. But when the tournament ends, they’ll have to return home,” said Vice President JD Vance.

FIFA and Local Leaders Respond
FIFA President Gianni Infantino addressed the concerns, stating:

“Our top priority is ensuring the safety of all fans. We’re confident in the security measures in place.”

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava echoed that sentiment, saying collaboration with federal agencies ensures a smooth experience for everyone.

Trump Invited to the Final
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy revealed he invited Trump to attend the final:

“I spoke to the president on Saturday night. I’m not sure he’ll come, but the invitation is open.”

Tournament Timeline
The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup runs from June 14 to July 13, taking place in major cities across the U.S.—including Miami, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and New York.
