11 injured, one dead in crash involving school bus in Talladega County

A tragic crash on Interstate 20 in Talladega County claimed the life of one person after a collision involving a school bus carrying athletes from Handley High School and Middle School.

Authorities confirmed that the driver of the passenger vehicle, 31-year-old Amanda Nicole Hubbard of Munford, died at the scene. Officials identified her following the incident.

The school bus was transporting the Handley High School junior varsity football team along with seventh and eighth grade middle school athletes. They were returning to Roanoke after a game in Leeds.

According to officials, the bus was occupied by student athletes and coaches, who were safely traveling home when the collision occurred.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash and worked to secure the area and assist those involved.

The incident prompted an immediate investigation by law enforcement to determine the cause of the collision.

School officials confirmed that support services were being made available to students, families, and staff affected by the event.

The community responded with concern and grief as details of the crash became known, highlighting the sudden and devastating nature of the accident.
