An active shooter incident caused fear and disruption Thursday morning at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital, located just north of Detroit. The situation began around 7:08 a.m. after reports of gunfire in the hospital’s parking garage.

The reports prompted an immediate emergency response. Patients, visitors, and staff were placed under lockdown as law enforcement moved quickly to secure the hospital campus and prevent further danger.

Authorities later confirmed that the suspect was an employee of the hospital. According to initial reports, the shooter targeted a fellow staff member, a 25-year-old coworker, and shot him twice in the arm.

Victim Treated as Authorities Investigate Motive
After the shooting, the injured staff member was taken to the hospital’s emergency department for treatment. Although the incident was serious, hospital officials said the victim was stabilized and remains in stable condition.

The motive behind the attack has not yet been disclosed. Investigators are now reviewing the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including the relationship between the suspect and the victim, and what may have led to the violence.

Police said the suspect was apprehended without further incident. The swift response helped prevent additional injuries and allowed the hospital to begin returning to controlled operations once the area was secured.
