Francisco San Martin’s journey began far from Hollywood, a boy born in Mallorca and raised in Montana who found his first spotlight on children’s theater stages. As a teenager, he returned to Spain, modeling and studying acting before quietly building a career in Spanish productions. That persistence led him back across the ocean, onto the sets of American daytime dramas where millions welcomed him into their living rooms. On Days of Our Lives, his turn as Dario Hernandez made him a familiar face; later, The Bold and the Beautiful and Jane the Virgin showcased his charm and range to new audiences.

His death by suicide at 39 left colleagues and fans reeling. Camila Banus remembered a friend who shared surreal, joyful moments; journalist Michael Fairman recalled a man he saw at the gym “most every day.” Their shock underscores a painful truth: so much suffering remains invisible, even to those standing closest. His story, now frozen in place, is a reminder to reach for help, and to look more carefully at the people we think we already see.
