36-Year-Old Teacher D:ies From Diabetes Doctors Say Was Triggered By Everyday Foods

Diabetes is a dangerous condition with a variety of complications, and diet is a key factor.

It is concerning that diabetes is increasingly impacting younger people. There is currently no known cure for diabetes; instead, the majority of therapies focus on controlling blood sugar, diet restrictions,
insulin injections, and glucose-lowering drugs.

Uncontrolled diabetes can lead to complications that harm the neurological system, internal organs, and possibly raise the risk of cancer.

The tragic d:ea:th of a 36-year-old teacher from complications related to diabetes serves as an example of this.

The Tragic Case of Ms. Luong, a 36-Year-Old Teacher
Tragically, Ms. Luong, a Chinese language instructor at a Chinese primary school, di:ed of diabetes at the age of 36.

This woman started exhibiting symptoms like fatigue, weariness, stomach pain, and a rapid heartbeat in late 2020. She did not, however, visit the hospital because of her busy schedule, which included preparing her pupils for examinations and compensating for COVID-related closures. Ms. Luong abruptly passed out in front of her classroom some months ago. The hospital diagnosed her with severe diabetes because of her abnormally high blood sugar level. Her condition deteriorated in spite of medical attention, and she abruptly entered a coma. Sadly, she di:ed after receiving medical care for eight hours.

“She Rarely Ate Sweets”-But Still Got Diabetes
Her husband couldn’t believe it. He asked the physicians, in tears, how his wife, who rarely ate sweets, could have been so seriously ill.

Following an examination of her daily routine, medical professionals found that while Ms. Luong avoided sugary snacks, her favorite foods caused her blood sugar levels to rise noticeably:

1. Eggplant (Cooked with Oil and Seasonings)

Eggplant is generally seen a nutritious diet because it has no fat or cholesterol and provides 1000 mg of protein, 15 mg of calcium, 400 mcg of iron, 1.5 g of fiber, 34 mg of phosphorus, 10 mcg of carotene, 15 mg of vitamin C, 600 mg of vitamin PP, and 100 mcg of vitamin B2.

Ms. Luong, however, frequently cooked eggplant with many herbs and oil. She weighed around 65 kilograms, which is considered overweight, even though she was only 1.5 meters tall. The condition exacerbated her blood sugar levels and hampered her metabolism when combined with her high-fat diet.

2. White Cauliflower (Stir-Fried in Lard)

White cauliflower is a low-calorie veggie that helps people lose weight. But she used hog fat to stir-fry it. According to doctors, eating cauliflower prepared this way on a regular basis can eventually be harmful to one’s health because it absorbs a lot of oil.

Other High-Risk Foods That Raise Blood Sugar

White Bread

White bread uses refined grains, not entire grains. It can raise blood sugar levels and raise the risk of diabetes if taken in excess or too regularly.

French fries

Like most fried foods, French fries are heavy in fat and carbohydrates, two things that might exacerbate diabetes. Because lipids take longer to digest, eating fries can cause your blood sugar to rise sharply and stay there.

Canned Tomato Sauce

Though bottled tomato sauce is a common condiment, only one tablespoon of it has roughly one teaspoon of sugar. Limiting intake is the greatest way to prevent blood sugar increases.

Canned Soups

While store-bought canned soups frequently contain unidentified components like corn syrup, sugar, and salt, homemade soup is a nutritious way to consume vegetables. Regular consumption may subtly increase your risk of diabetes.

White rice

White rice has a lot of carbohydrates, which is digested and turned into sugar. Blood sugar levels might rise sharply after consuming rice. Diabetics should consume more vegetables and whole grains instead of excessive amounts of white rice.
