Donald Trump Plans to Pardon Todd and Julie Chrisley of ‘Chrisley Knows Best,’ Sparking Public Backlash

Surprise Pardon Shocks the Chrisley Family
Just hours after a stunning presidential pardon, Savannah Chrisley broke her silence. She posted an emotional video sharing how she heard the news—and what comes next.

Trump Grants Full Pardon to the Chrisleys
On May 28, 2025, President Donald Trump issued a full pardon for Todd and Julie Chrisley. The couple, stars of Chrisley Knows Best, had been convicted of tax evasion and bank fraud.
Margo Martin, Special Assistant to the President, announced the decision via a post on X, igniting widespread discussion.

A Presidential Call and Harsh Sentence Claims
President Trump defended his decision. He called the couple’s sentencing “pretty harsh treatment.” During a phone call with their children, he said,

“It’s a terrible thing, but it’s a great thing because your parents are going to be free and clean.”

Harrison Fields, a White House spokesperson, added that Trump believes in giving deserving Americans second chances—especially those “unfairly targeted by an unjust justice system.”

Savannah Reacts: “I Shed So Many Tears”

Later that day, Savannah Chrisley posted a heartfelt video. Wearing a white “Make America Great Again” hat, she revealed that Trump had personally called her as she walked into Sam’s Club.

“I have shed so many tears,” she said. “The President called me personally… and told me he was signing the pardon paperwork for both my parents.”

She added that Todd and Julie were expected to come home that night or the next day.

Preparing for Their Return

Savannah also thanked her legal team, political allies, and loyal supporters.

“We’re putting clothes together for Mom and Dad,” she said. “Getting their room ready upstairs.”

Still overwhelmed, she expressed disbelief.

“It doesn’t feel real. I’m freaking out. I’m about to go pick up my parents. They get to start over.”

She ended with a powerful promise:

“I will stand with Trump and fight against corruption—and for others in prison.”

Legal Push Began Months Ago

Savannah’s joy followed months of legal campaigning. Back in February 2025, NBC News reported that the Chrisleys had officially sought a pardon.
Attorney Jay Surgent claimed their rights had been violated. He cited a warehouse search without a warrant and procedural mistakes during trial.

Reality TV Rise and Legal Downfall

The Chrisleys rose to fame through Chrisley Knows Best, which aired for ten seasons on USA Network. Their kids starred in a spinoff, Growing Up Chrisley.

In June 2022, the couple was convicted of defrauding banks of over $30 million in loans. They also faced multiple tax-related charges.
Their accountant, Peter Tarantino, was convicted alongside them.

Prosecutors: “Justice Is Blind”

U.S. Attorney Ryan Buchanan and FBI Agent Keri Garley condemned the couple’s actions.

“Justice is blind to fame and fortune,” Garley stated. “Financial crimes don’t pay.”

Julie also faced wire fraud and obstruction charges. Evidence showed the Chrisleys submitted fake financial documents to secure loans. They allegedly used the funds on luxury cars, clothes, homes, and travel.
