Trump Quietly Appoints Erika Kirk to Military Role — But One Detail Has People Talking

Erika Kirk has been appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy’s Board of Visitors, a move that has sparked mixed reactions online. While the White House praised the decision, some social media users quickly pointed out what they see as a major issue. Former President Donald Trump selected Erika Kirk, 37, the widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, to serve on the academy’s advisory board. The 16-member Board of Visitors helps oversee areas such as morale, discipline, curriculum, finances, and academic programs at the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Charlie Kirk had previously been appointed to the same board by Trump a year earlier. He served in the role until he was tragically killed in September while speaking at Utah Valley University. Although the Air Force Academy has not made a formal announcement, several news outlets reported the appointment, and Erika Kirk’s name now appears among Trump’s appointees to the board.

White House spokesperson Olivia Wales praised the decision, saying Charlie Kirk had inspired many people through his faith, patriotism, and dedication to the country. She added that Erika Kirk would continue his legacy and serve as a strong advocate for the nation’s future servicemembers. Rep. August Pfluger of Texas, the board’s chair, also welcomed the appointment. He said Erika Kirk is the right person to continue her husband’s work and help inspire the next generation of military leaders.

However, critics online questioned the decision, pointing out that neither Erika Kirk nor her late husband had formal military service. Some users argued that experience in the military or defense sector should be a key qualification for the role. What do you think about Erika Kirk’s appointment to the Air Force Academy board?
