Authorities Detain Three People Near Nancy Guthrie’s Home as Investigation Continues

Late Friday, more than a dozen law enforcement vehicles — including SWAT and forensic units — gathered at a residence about two miles from Nancy Guthrie’s home in Tucson. Roads in the surrounding area were closed for roughly four hours before reopening. Authorities later cleared the scene, though officials have not confirmed whether the location is directly connected to the investigation. Investigators were also seen at a nearby second site. During the evening, law enforcement examined a gray Range Rover in a restaurant parking lot. The vehicle is believed to be connected to the ongoing probe into Guthrie’s disappearance.

Range Rover Seized
According to Fox News Digital, officers spent several hours inspecting the SUV before towing it from a Culver’s parking lot. During the search, authorities covered the license plate and removed several items from the vehicle for documentation and evidence collection. At one point, investigators used a sheet to block public view of activity near the trunk.

The driver of the Range Rover was detained for questioning and taken away from the scene. It remains unclear whether the individual is still in custody. In total, at least three people were detained Friday evening for questioning, though officials have not publicly identified any suspects.
Evidence and Public Tips
Authorities confirmed that DNA recovered from Guthrie’s property does not belong to her or anyone close to her. Investigators have also collected several gloves as potential evidence, including one discovered about 10 miles from her home.

The FBI described the person seen in doorbell footage as a man about 5’9” to 5’10” tall with an average build carrying an Ozark Trail Hiker backpack. After the video was released, nearly 5,000 tips arrived within hours, and more than 30,000 total tips are now under review. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities continue urging the public to share any information that may help locate Guthrie.
