An American Airlines flight nearing landing at Reagan National Airport was
involved in a fatal collision with a U.S. military helicopter over the Potomac River,
marking one of the deadliest U.S. aviation accidents in more than a decade.
The plane was arriving from Wichita, Kansas.
Among the victims was flight attendant Danasia Elder of Charlotte, North Carolina, remembered for her warmth, faith, and devotion to her husband and two children.
Her brother-in-law described her as “full of life,” noting her love for travel and gratitude for her career.
Elder worked alongside fellow flight attendant Ian Epstein, a respected professional with decades of experience.
The pilots, Captain Jonathan Campos and First Officer Samuel Lilley, were also known for their dedication.
The crash claimed the lives of all 67 passengers and crew, leaving families and communities grieving nationwide.
