The 71-year-old guitarist, Nancy Wilson, recently said that she was embarrassed to be an American now. In response to what she said, many fans were saying that they were embarrassed to have supported her in the past.

There were some fans who were not very happy about the political comment she made. Over the years, Heart has not really been shy about its stance on politics.

When Nancy was giving an interview with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, she even said that the song ‘Crazy on You’ was written as a response to what was taking place during the Vietnam War.

She also explained the lyrics of the song, saying: “When Ann was writing the lyrics, I know that she was — the times were very troubled, kind of like today. Very much like today. And, you know, it was kind of a call to your partner to be like, ‘I know the world is just insanely crazy here right now. But I just want us to go crazy together. To let it all just fall away so it’s only just you and me here!’”

She also said during her recent interview that the song, which was written in 1975 still has relevance to this day. She said: “We were kind of embarrassed at that time to call ourselves American because of the dirty politics of the Vietnam War. To be as subtle as possible, it’s more embarrassing now.”

Some of her fans went on Twitter to express themselves after they found out she was embarrassed to be an American. One said that they were embarrassed that they saw Heart in concert and paid a lot for their albums. Another said that her comments ‘ruined it for one of my all-time favorite bands.’
