Trump Brokered Israel-Hamas Peace Deal Wins Bipartisan Recognition
Former President Donald Trump received rare praise from Democrats and
opponents after helping broker a peace deal between Israel and Hamas,
ending two years of conflict that began with the October 2023 Hamas attack.
That assault killed 1,300 Israelis and took over 250 hostages,
prompting Israel’s massive military response in Gaza.
With support from Qatar and other regional partners,
the Trump administration negotiated a ceasefire securing the release of all 20 remaining Israeli hostages and more than 1,900 Palestinian prisoners.
Former President Bill Clinton said Trump and his team
“deserve great credit” for their commitment and
emphasized the need to turn this “fragile moment” into lasting peace.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called the hostages’ release “a wonderful day,”
while Trump urged leaders to move from warfare toward diplomacy.
Other Democrats praised the ceasefire and humanitarian aid in Gaza, highlighting the agreement’s significance.
Trump acknowledged the future remains uncertain but vowed continued support for peace efforts.
