She’s covered the White House, fact-checked the powerful, and now, Jacqui Heinrich is officially engaged.
The Fox News White House correspondent said yes to Pennsylvania Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick after a sunrise proposal in the lavender fields of Provence. Yes, there was a drone. And yes, it was all captured from the sky.
A Lavender Sunrise and a Surprise Ring
The 36-year-old journalist thought she was just checking off a bucket list dream: seeing the French Riviera, eating baguettes, and walking through blooming purple fields in the South of France. But Fitzpatrick had other plans.

At dawn on June 29, during a whirlwind 48-hour getaway to France, the 51-year-old congressman popped the question in a lavender field in Valensole, complete with a hidden photographer and drone overhead.
“The smell was just so fragrant,” Heinrich told People. “It felt like a fairy tale… It’s a memory that will be seared into my brain for life.”
Fitzpatrick had planned it all, including selecting the round solitaire diamond ring from Heinrich’s longtime family jeweler in Portland, Maine.
“He didn’t ask for any help from me or anyone I know. So I was really surprised he got it spot-on.”
From Deadline Chaos to Lavender Calm
The couple’s trip was nearly derailed by congressional votes on a measure dubbed “The One Big Beautiful Bill.” Heinrich offered to delay, but Fitzpatrick insisted.

“All the time I’ve known this man, he has never been desperate to see a field of flowers at dawn,” she joked.
They left Nice at 1:30 a.m., drove two hours, and found their perfect field before sunrise. As Jacqui walked out among the blooms, Fitzpatrick told her he’d take a photo and that’s when it all unfolded.
Later that morning, they celebrated with espresso and brunch in St. Tropez, followed by a quick tour through Cannes.
“In less than 48 hours, we saw all of the cities we wanted to see during the whole 10 days we were supposed to be there,” she said.

A Capitol Couple with Chemistry and Conviction
Jacqui Heinrich and Brian Fitzpatrick first met at the 2021 Kennedy Center Honors and have quietly grown close ever since. She’s a senior White House correspondent at Fox News; he’s a five-term congressman, former FBI agent, and one of the most independent Republicans in Washington.
Their relationship is built on mutual respect, shared values, and a rare kind of independence, both personal and political.

But for Heinrich, it’s his mind and moral compass that matter most.
“He’s the most principled, thoughtful and brilliant person I know… He brings me closer to God. He’s sweet and gentle and kind — just a joy to be around.”
What’s Next?
They’re planning a joint housewarming and engagement party soon, and eventually, a big Catholic wedding. Fitzpatrick has six siblings and a large extended family.
“It will be great,” Heinrich said. “We’re really excited to celebrate.”
From the halls of Congress to the hills of Provence, this Fox News romance is just getting started.
