Israel Deports Greta Thunberg After Gaza Flotilla Detention
Israel confirmed that Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg and
over 170 others detained while attempting to reach Gaza on the Global Sumud Flotilla have been deported.
Photos released by Israeli officials show Thunberg in custody attire as she left the country.
Thunberg and several activists have since landed in Athens, according to reports.
Israel described the mission as a “PR stunt”, insisting that “all the legal rights of the participants… were fully upheld.”
Earlier claims alleged that Thunberg was kept in poor conditions, suffering from rashes, dehydration, and limited food,
and was allegedly forced to pose with flags — allegations Israeli authorities called “complete lies.”
Thunberg, 22, was part of a flotilla of over 40 vessels and 400 participants carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Israel intercepted the convoy in international waters, saying all detentions followed legal procedures before deportation.
