Mississippi K9 Hero Saves Deputy During Brutal Ambush
A Mississippi K9 is being hailed a hero after saving the life of his partner, Hancock Sheriff’s Deputy Todd Frazier, during a violent ambush.
Deputy Attacked by Three Suspects
Deputy Frazier faced a life-threatening attack when three suspects beat him and slashed him with a box cutter. Authorities launched a manhunt immediately. Chief Deputy Don Bass told the Clarion-Ledger:
“They told him they were going to slit his throat and dragged him toward the woods.”

Fortunately, Lucas, a black Belgian Malinois, sprang into action. Frazier activated a button on his vehicle, opening the door and releasing Lucas. Sheriff Ricky Adam confirmed that Lucas bit at least one, possibly two, of the attackers.
“We don’t know how many he got, we just know he had blood all over him,” Adam told the Clarion-Ledger.
How the Attack Unfolded
The assault began when Frazier stepped out of his vehicle to inspect a parked blue Lincoln Town Car with a dark vinyl top at a rest stop. The car’s lights were off, and the driver appeared to be alone.
“When he got out, two other people came out of the woods right by the vehicle. He backed up, fell, and it was on then,” Sheriff Adam said.
K9 Hero Recognized
Lucas’s quick response likely saved Deputy Frazier’s life. Authorities continue searching for the suspects, while the brave K9 receives praise for his courage and training.
