Kimmel’s Suspension
Jimmy Kimmel’s show was pulled after remarks about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
ABC suspended Jimmy Kimmel Live! “indefinitely,” sparking debate over free speech.
Disney Reverses Course
On September 22, Disney announced his return:
“We made the decision to suspend production…
because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive.
We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”
Sinclair Pushes Back
Sinclair Inc., which operates ABC affiliates, said it will not air Kimmel’s show in nearly 40 markets.
“Beginning Tuesday night, Sinclair will be preempting Jimmy Kimmel Live!…
replacing it with news programming,” the company stated.
Three Demands
Sinclair said Kimmel must apologize to the Kirk family, donate to them and Turning Point USA, and meet with ABC about accountability before the show returns.
