AOC Blames Gun Laws After Charlie Kirk Shooting
Following the assassination of conservative figure Charlie Kirk,
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez criticized ongoing inaction on gun reform.
“Every single day people are dying due to gun violence in America,” she said.
“There are people in this building that continue to vote against doing anything.”
Details of the Shooting
Kirk was shot around 12:20 p.m. during an event at Utah Valley University.
“Shots were fired from a building about 200 yards from the speaker,” said university official Ellen Treanor.
Kirk was hit and taken away by his security team.
Tense Moments Caught on Video
Seconds before the shooting, Kirk was responding to a question about transgender mass shooters.
As he answered, a gunshot rang out, striking him in the neck.
Shooter Still Unidentified
Authorities have detained and released two suspects. “The shooter remains at large.”
Political leaders from both parties have condemned the attack and called for prayers.
