Magda Szubanski Shares Heartfelt Hospital Update
Actress Magda Szubanski recently gave fans a glimpse into her life from a hospital bed as she battles stage-four can**r.

A Special Shout-Out
The 64-year-old, known for her roles in Kath & Kim and the Babe films, posted an Instagram video this past weekend. She thanked a young fan, 10-year-old Annabella from Adelaide, for cheering her up by dressing as Sharon Strzelecki, Szubanski’s iconic Kath & Kim character, for Book Week.
Smiling from her hospital bed, Szubanski said, “I’m in here having chemo and it really cheered me up. I’m really touched. That was a beautiful thing to do. Thank you, my sweet. Lots of love to you.”
Her Instagram caption added, “Chemo is smacking me around right now.”
Can**r Diagnosis
In May, Szubanski revealed she was diagnosed with stage-four mantle cell lymphoma, an aggressive bl0*d can**r. She shared a video showing her shaven head in preparation for hair loss due to treatment.
The disease was discovered “incidentally” during a breast screening that revealed swollen lymph nodes. At the time, she told the Sydney Morning Herald, “It is one of the nasty ones, unfortunately. The good thing is I’m surrounded by beautiful friends, family, and an incredible medical support team. Honestly, we have the best in the world here in Australia, particularly in Melbourne. I feel very fortunate.”
She added, “New treatments keep coming down the pipeline all the time.”

Ongoing Precautions
Szubanski reminded fans that her immune system is currently weakened. “Please keep a distance because I will be very immunocompromised,” she said. “I can’t hug anymore. Don’t hug me, kiss me, or breathe anywhere near me! Wave enthusiastically from a safe distance and know I love you madly.”
We’re sending all our support to Magda. Get well soon!
