First Day of School Turns Into a Nightmare for Dozens of Families

In a devastating turn of events, three school bus accidents occurred on the very first day of school—leaving parents, children, and entire communities shaken. One of the crashes happened in Leander ISD, involving a bus carrying 40 students. Multiple children were rushed to the hospital. Meanwhile, in Cleveland, two other school buses collided, carrying 58 students, several of whom were also hospitalized.

It’s a sobering reminder of how life can change in an instant. One parent, reflecting on their own experience, shared a heartfelt message that resonates deeply: “I know what it feels like to face a serious emergency with your child. I went through something that shook me to my core when my daughter Maya was hit in the head with a rock. That fear, that panic—there are no words for it.”

These moments remind us how vulnerable we are, how precious our children’s safety is, and how crucial it is to come together as a community. Right now, dozens of families are living through every parent’s worst nightmare.

This is a moment for all of us to pause and reflect. Say a prayer for the children, for the parents waiting by hospital beds, and for the teachers and first responders who are doing all they can to help. Hug your children a little tighter tonight. Let them know they are loved.
