Trump officials sent birth control worth $10 million to be incinerated, turning down the option to donate it

The Trump administration has ordered the destruction of nearly $10 million in taxpayer-funded contraceptives—pills, IUDs, and implants—despite charities offering to distribute them at no cost. The decision will also cost taxpayers an additional $167,000 for incineration.

Public health groups, including the International Planned Parenthood Federation and MSI Reproductive Choices, condemned the move, calling it wasteful and ideologically driven. The supplies could have provided three years of contraception in countries like Senegal, where shortages now loom.

The administration claims the move aligns with its efforts to cut international aid and federal spending, though critics argue it does more harm than good—both financially and globally.
