Texas Flash Floods: Father Clutches Children Amid Devastation

Tragedy Unfolds in Flash Flooding

Texas communities suffered unimaginable loss after a massive flash flood claimed over 100 lives.
Rescue efforts continue as many remain missing.
The girls’ camp, Camp Mystic, confirmed 27 children and counselors d**d, with 11 still missing. Their statement read:

“Our hearts are broken… We are praying for them constantly… May the Lord wrap His presence around all of us.”

Haunting Eyewitness Account

Amid the chaos, heartbreaking stories emerged. One resident told the New York Post about a father who refused to let go of his babies’ hands during the crisis.

Camp Mystic director Dick Eastland also d**d while guiding children to safety. His grandson, George, shared on Instagram:

“If he wasn’t going to d*e of natural causes, this was the only other way… saving the girls that he so loved.”

Heroic Father: Clutching Children to the End

Lorena Guillen, owner of Blue Oak RV Park in Kerr County, recalled the tragic moment:

“My husband was in the water asking, ‘Please throw me your baby!’ The man held tight to his babies—and then they got swept away.”

The father, later identified as John Burgess of Liberty, Texas, went missing along with his wife Julia and their two sons. Their daughter, who had stayed at a nearby camp, survived.

Destruction and Despair at RV Park

Guillen described the RV park’s ruin:

“The cabins floated by, smashing against trees. We heard people screaming, ‘Help me!’ It was too much.”

She recounted racing to the water’s edge under darkness as the river surged nearly 10 feet, sweeping away RVs and families trapped in the current.

Honor and Remember

These tragic events underscore both the flood’s ferocity and the selfless acts of its victims.
We will never forget those who lost their lives in this disaster.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with the families and communities affected.
